  13.                SEVERE ALLERGY TO THE INSECT'S VENOM!

  16.                Signs and symptoms of allergic reaction  
  17.                include pain, swelling of the throat,    
  18.                redness or discoloration at the site of  
  19.                the bite, itching, hives, decreased      
  20.                consciousness and difficult or          
  21.                noisy breathing.

  25.                First aid calls for being alert for signs
  26.                of allergic reaction or shock and seeking
  27.                medical attention as quickly as possible
  28.                for these victims!

  32.                If a stinger remains in the victim, you
  33.                may try to remove it carefully with a
  34.                tweezers or by scraping with the edge of
  35.                a credit card. Be careful not to        
  36.                squeeze the stinger as this will inject
  37.                more venom.

  40.                Once a stinger has been removed, the wound
  41.                should be washed well with soap and water.
  42.                Cold compresses will help relieve pain and
  43.                swelling. The stung area                
  44.                should be kept lower than the heart to
  45.                slow circulation of the venom.
